THE GALLERY INN, San Juan – A Smart Stay in the City

The Gallery Inn consists of five 18th-century buildings, including the former residence of El Morro Fortress's artillery captain. The 27 guest rooms feature Tempur-Pedic mattresses, private bathrooms, and balconies or terraces with views of the Atlantic Ocean, Old San Juan, or gardens. No TVs are provided to encourage immersion in the surroundings. Room types range from compact Artist Student Rooms to spacious Top Suites with separate parlors and ocean views.

Nico's Rooftop Lounge serves cocktails and Arturo Fuente cigars with panoramic ocean views. Studio Bar offers beer and wine during concerts in Studio Hall, which seats 60 guests. Coffee is served mornings at Sala Margarita. The hotel does not have a full restaurant but provides breakfast recommendations within walking distance.

Weekly concerts feature visiting musicians on six Steinway pianos across two venues: Studio Hall and the intimate Concert Room. The sculpture pool, surrounded by original artwork, is built around ancient walls. The rooftop sundeck includes ocean-view seating under a pergola. Five active art studios display works by hostess Jan D'Esopo.

The hotel is steps from San Juan Bautista Cathedral, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, and Casa Blanca Museum. El Escambrón Beach is a short drive away. Calle Norzagaray provides direct access to local restaurants, shops, and nightlife. No airport shuttle is available, but taxis and rideshares serve Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (20-minute drive).

Front desk staff assist with concert schedules, room selection (each varies due to historic architecture), and additional bed requests. The Puerto Rico Charitable Trust for Young Musicians, supported by hotel proceeds, offers masterclasses and mentorship. Event spaces host weddings amid tropical gardens. No business center or child-specific amenities are available.
